Meet Maureen: Leeds Cares Volunteer

Maureen has volunteered at Leeds Cares for the past four years.

Meet 75 year-old Maureen Dickinson. She is one of our dedicated volunteers who has been involved with the Leeds Cancer Centre and has volunteered at Leeds Cares for the past four years!

Maureen has two sons and three grandchildren. Before she had her sons, Maureen worked as a PA to a Managing Director of a printing company. She then spent 10 years as an Ambulance Driver with West Yorkshire Ambulance

Before she started volunteering with Leeds Cares, Maureen started volunteering with Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust when Bexley Wing was being built. Maureen had come to St James’ Hospital for an appointment and saw an advertisement for volunteers in the new wing. Maureen applied and successfully and began volunteering in January after the new wing opened a month earlier.

One day Maureen covered one of our regular volunteers shift in the Bexley Wing shop and really enjoyed it. When her husband passed away Maureen decided that she would like to dedicate a little more time to volunteer with us and now works an additional morning in the shop.

Maureen loves volunteering, meeting new people and working with her co volunteer workers.
