Leigh Day take on the sportive
Solicitors Leigh Day have pledged to take part in a major cycling challenge for Leeds Cares this September.
A team of ten cyclists from the law firm will be taking on the UCI official sportive in Harrogate on the 22nd September as part of the 2019 UCI Road World Championships when the prestigious event returns to the UK for the first time in over thirty years.
Leigh Day are specialist lawyers in serious personal injury and cycling claims. They are dedicated to getting cyclists back in the saddle after an injury, and campaign for better cycling conditions. The personal injury lawyers have offices in Manchester, Liverpool and London but already provide services to Leeds Cares by providing specialist legal advice to victims of major trauma at the Leeds Major Trauma Centre, based at the Leeds General Infirmary.
The firm has lots of keen cyclists and was really keen to support the charity when it found out it had been chosen as the official fundraising partner of the upcoming championships. Leigh Day partner Grant Incles said “At Leigh Day we’re really passionate about how cycling can make our towns and cities better places to live. We’re also passionate about supporting charities like Leeds Cares and believe that our donations will help them to support more patients across Yorkshire.”
They’ll also be training hard for the sportive event which takes in some of the most challenging climbs in North Yorkshire before finishing with a difficult loop of Harrogate city centre.
Rachel Botterill, cycling lawyer at Leigh Day, is one of the riders in the law firm’s team: “As a keen cyclist myself, I feel privileged to represent cyclists who have been seriously injured in my professional life. I am very much looking forward to taking part in this sportive for such an important cause.”
