Dedicated Leeds Cares Award at 2019 Sports Awards
Nominations are now open for the first ever Leeds Cares Award, a brand new category at the 2019 Leeds Sports Awards.
The award, in association with Yorkshire Evening Post, will be presented to an individual or group that has shown outstanding commitment to getting people active in our city.
The prize is one of 14 categories at the Leeds Sports Awards, celebrating the achievements and contributions of people and groups across the city. All levels of sport feature in the accolades, from professional clubs and athletes to grass roots coaches, administrators and volunteers.
The winners of each category will be announced at a ceremony at the First Direct Arena on Thursday 28th February.
The awards were officially launched during Leeds United’s match with Nottingham Forest on 27th October. We joined organisers Sport Leeds on the pitch at half time, alongside some of Leeds’ most celebrated athletes, including Josh Warrington and Hannah Cockroft MBE.
David Welch, Leeds Cares CEO, said: “Leeds has a rich sporting history and we are tremendously proud to be a part of this celebration event. The Leeds Cares Award, in association with the Yorkshire Evening Post, is a great way for us to acknowledge the people in our community whose passion for sport encourages others to get active.”
